The blackberries are ripe! Some of the bushes are really tall with small berries. But a few of the bushes had berries as big as my thumb! I picked the larger ones (once I discovered them) and left the smaller ones for the birds.
I plan to put some in the freeze dryer (they are now on trays in the freezer) and to make a berry crisp tomorrow.
Tomorrow, I will head back out to gather more berries as I plan to try my hand at making sugar-free blackberry jam soon.
The newest baby calf was very curious about my berry bucket and Freddy is always a big help with blackberry picking!
